Big Bass Studio
Big Bass Studio is one of the more relaxing games we've had on the test bench in a while. You pick a spot along a lake or river, choose your gear, and cast out with a simple flick gesture. The whole loop is about reading the ripples, watching your line, and reacting at the right moment when something bites. There's no rush, and that's the point.
The controls surprised us with how tactile they feel. Casting is a swipe, reeling is a rotating gesture you can slow down or speed up, and the tension meter forces you to pay attention instead of just holding a button. On a decent phone it runs cool and light, and the battery drain is gentle enough for a long train ride.
We spent a good chunk of time just unlocking new locations and upgrading rods. The progression is slow but never grindy in an ugly way, and the little collection log kept pulling us back for one more cast. It's the kind of game you leave installed for months.
What we liked
- Genuinely calming pace
- Smart gesture-based casting and reeling
- Runs cool with low battery use
