Why genre labels still matter on mobile
Mobile stores throw everything into a blender and call it all 'games,' which makes it hard to know what you're downloading. That's part of why we're strict about labeling genres clearly on every review.
A strategy game and an arcade racer ask completely different things of you. One wants your patience and planning, the other wants your reflexes. If you install the wrong one for your mood, you'll bounce off it and blame the game.
We've noticed people often think they don't like a whole genre when really they just tried one bad example. Someone who hates 'RPGs' might love Emberfall Legends because it fixes the things that annoyed them elsewhere.
So when we tag a game, we're trying to set the right expectation, not box it in. Genres are a starting point, a way to find your footing before you commit an evening to something.
Read the genre, then read why we gave it that label. That combination tells you more than any store rating ever will.
